THE BARRINGTON COMMUNITIES

The Village of Barrington is the community that ties all of the Barrington Area together. It features a downtown business district that provides shopping for those of the nearby towns. The METRA train station, located here, provides easy access to downtown Chicago. Churches, parks and the library are located here as is the High School.

The Village of Lake Barrington is a semi-rural community located approximately 42 miles northwest of Chicago in Lake County, Illinois. Geographically, Lake Barrington consists of over 3500 acres of land (equivalent to approximately 6.5 square miles), much of it being forest preserves and wetlands. The current population is 4,757, based on the 2000 Census, of which about two-thirds reside in the planned unit development of Lake Barrington Shores. Though the Village is primarily residential, it has over 200 businesses, many of which are located in the Lake Barrington Business and Industrial Park.

 Lake Barrington Shores is an exclusive gated townhouse community set on 520 rolling acres and its sparkling jewel, a 100-acre lake with a marina and sand beach. Features include the 18 hole, championship golf course and the 35 acre forest preserve. The elegant recreation center provides an exercise facility, indoor & outdoor pools, sauna & whirlpool, banquet hall & meeting rooms. The community also has 10 standard tennis courts and 3 heated, platform tennis courts with a warming house for winter play.

The Village of North Barrington features a special quality found in its beautiful homes usually set on one-acre lots amid rolling hills and wooded property. Wynstone, its most recent development, which features a Jack Nicholas designed golf course in a gated community, has homes starting in the $700,000 range and extending well beyond $2,000,000. The Biltmore area of North Barrington consists of rolling hills, meandering streams and extensive woodlands. The Biltmore Country Club is a private, upscale golf club with a first class restaurant and other emenities.   

The Village of Tower Lakes is a small community built primarily around two lakes. It features rolling hills and a wonderful beach with several small islands connected by swinging pedestrian bridges. The community has many activities for both parents and children. Summertime finds families gathering at the beach for swimming or to participate in the sailing regatta. People who live here never want to leave and it seems rare to find many homes available for sale. Tower Lakes is recoignized for having one of the lowest crime rates in the entire metropolitan area. It is indeed a special place to call home.

Barrington Hills stands out as the jewel of the Barrington Communities. It is distinctive from all its neighbors in that it is primarily zoned for a minimum of five-acre parcels. This zoning has provided a haven for many equestrian enthusiasts. Horse and rider can be seen following the trails throughout the area as they pass through adjoining properties. The Barrington Hills Country Club features an exclusive, private golf course and clubhouse. Membership is by invitation only.

The Village of Deer Park is located on the Eastern portion of the Barrington Area Communities. It features homes primarily on one acre parcels of land and the community is enriched by many ponds and lakes. The new Deer Park Mall provides convenient shopping and dining. Children attend either the Barrington or the Lake Zurich school system.

NEARBY COMMUNITIES

The alpine Village of Lake Zurich was originally developed around the mile wide lake of the same name, which defines the special character of this village. The lake offers boating, swimming and fishing. There is a quaint downtown business district and many restaurants and convenient shopping along the main highway that passes through a section of the village.

The Village of Kildeer is known for its winding, tree-lined roads that preserve the natural contour of the land. A sanctuary with nearby shopping, dining and great schools, this community has been described as having a New England feel because of the rolling, wooded terrain. Homes set on one acre parcels are priced from $450,000 to $900,000 with a variety of both newer homes and established areas.

The Village of Hawthorn Woods offers a variety of homes typically set on one acre homesites. New developments are still in progress as the community continues to blossom. Nearby shopping is available in the new Deer Park mall.

Located in central Lake County, the Village of Wauconda is one of a chain of towns that are slowly changing from rural to a suburban environment. Bangs Lake centers the village's recreational activity, but there also is an old-fashioned Main Street which features antique emporiums and several restaurants that offer first class dining. People enjoy living here because of the small-town atmosphere and enduring charm. There are several exclusive lakefront townhouse developments with private beaches and boat docks. The community has a great park and library. 

Fox River Grove lies just West of the Barrington Area and is bordered on its West by the Fox River. A diverse community with affordable housing and upscale homes, Fox River Grove offers many amenities. It is the home of the world famous Norge Ski Jump. Nearby is the hot air balloon port. Commuter trains to downtown Chicago provide convenient transportation for the local residents.

Cary is served by the Metra train with provides a convenient connection to downtown Chicago. A small business district is the town's anchor and the community provides affordable housing of many levels. The Fox River, which provides the Easterly border of the Village, offers boaters and fishermen an enjoyable recreational diversion.
